SmartRecruiters is an American software company founded in 2010 by Jérôme Ternynck. The company develops talent acquisition software used by employers to manage hiring processes.[1][2]

The company was acquired by German software corporation SAP in August 2025 to replace the recruiting module in its SuccessFactors Human Capital Management suite.[1][2]

History

SmartRecruiters was founded by Jerome Ternynck in 2010. The company is headquartered in San Francisco, California.[3]

In 2016, the company had 700 customers, including Square, Atlassian and Equinox gyms.[4]

In January 2017, SmartRecruiters acquired the German data science company Jobspotting GmbH, a job recommendation engine, for an undisclosed sum.[5]

Rebecca Carr was named the Chief Executive Officer in 2024.[6]

In August 2025, German software company SAP acquired SmartRecruiters.[7][1]

Platform

The SmartRecruiters platform is a suite of cloud-based tools for managing the hiring process. It provides applicant tracking, recruitment tools, candidate relationship management, and analytics.[8]

Hiring managers can manage job requests, communicate with candidates, and schedule interviews.[9]
