Renewable, as a concept, is usually defined as being able to replenish itself. Renewables usually refer to any renewable resource. This is in contrast with a non-renewable resource, which refers to any resource that cannot readily replace itself.

  • Renewable fuels are any type of fuels that are produced from renewable resources. Renewable natural gas (RNG), also known as biomethane and made from biogas, is one type of renewable fuel. Other examples of renewable fuels include biofuels, hydrogen fuel, and electric fuel.
  • Renewable energy, also known as renewable power or green energy, is energy made from renewable resources. Examples of renewable energy include solar energy, wind power, hydropower, bioenergy, and geothermal power. An application of renewable energy is renewable heat.
