Making Contact Radio
Making Contact is a radio program and podcast focused on public affairs.[1] It is "heard on 140 radio stations" in the United States, Canada, South Africa and Ireland."[2] It was produced by Frequencies of Change, which also went by the International Media Project. In April 2025, they announced the nonprofit would be closing.[3] It was funded in 1994.[4] As of 2026, it was still promoting encore episodes and a 30th anniversary "capsule" episode promoted their archive.[5][6]
Coverage
Episodes focus on topics from activism,[7] elections, the prison system,[8] indigenous peoples issues,[9] and environmental justice.[10]
Makeup
Jina Chung was the executive director at Making Contact.[11] Their website lists Amy Gastelum, Salima Hamirani, Lucy Kang, Anita Johnson, Jeff Emtman, Adwoa Gyimah-Brempong, as current team members along with freelancers.[12] There are also past team members.[13]

- "Bad Math: the Risks of Artificial Intelligence" by Salima Hamirani, which won a Technology Reporting (radio/audio) award from the Society of Professional Journalists, Northern California chapter.[16][17]
- "Disability Visibility: Celebrating the Voice of Alice Wong,"[18] posted after Wong's death in which Wong is also a producer.[19]
